Özyeğin University Hosts Symposium: "Pilot Demand in Turkish Civil Aviation and Proposed Solutions"

The Faculty of Aviation and Aeronautical Sciences at Özyeğin University organized a symposium in collaboration with the Turkish Private Sector Aviation Enterprises Association (TÖSHİD) to examine the current pilot demand in the aviation sector. The event was held on March 8, 2024, at the Reşat Aytaç Auditorium, bringing together distinguished professionals, aviation experts, academics, and students, under the overarching theme of the “Pilot Demand in Turkish Aviation and Proposed Solutions.”

The symposium’s first opening speaker Ayhan Erdoğan, Head of Flight Operations Department at the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), expressed gratitude to everyone involved, in particular, Rector Prof. Esra Gençtürk of Özyeğin University, for hosting this event that united all stakeholders from across the sector, in celebration of International Women’s Day. Erdoğan remarked: “Today, it is time to discuss in detail the challenges experienced in the aviation sector, which plays a key role in the economic and social development of our country and the world, based on the issues and projections faced by stakeholders in the sector. To that end, it is of paramount importance to develop solutions, maintain healthy sustainability, and make sure that the discussions we held here at this distinguished event are not confined to this venue, and the necessary actions are taken by everyone with a sense of responsibility.”

The next opening speaker, Prof. Mehmet Burçin Ünlü, Dean of the Faculty of Aviation and Aeronautical Sciences at Özyeğin University, stated, “Özyeğin University views it as a primary goal to cultivate skilled professionals tailored to respond to the needs of the sector, and develop innovative solutions in collaboration with the sector. I am confident that both this symposium and the ensuing platform will make positive contributions to the future of the sector.”
